Description: "This song is a literal depiction of losing my dad to cancer. In a way, it’s also a confession of losing a belief system. They’d say, “He’s in heaven,” and “We rejoice with you.” As a kid, those statements felt more cruel than comforting. It was hard to process the slow decline of my dad physically and then finally, to watch him breathe his last breath."

Lyrics: HEAVEN CRASHED DOWN VERSE ONE It took a toll on Mama Oh the things she wrote Nothing quite like dying Real real slow PRE-CHORUS Our stairs were dark dark green I used to cry there a lot While the man of her dreams Was up the stairs half gone CHANNEL Those were the days when CHORUS Heaven crashed down Hell showed up I was just thirteen Clinging to the middle ground He was all we had He was all I'd lost The the morning heaven crashed down I grew up VERSE ONE It took a toll on me Oh the things I'd pray Angry's not the word It was more like rage I hated everything but time Especially those dark green stairs They were the last stairs he'd climb The first stairs he'd ever come down dead CHANNEL Those were the days when BRIDGE I was just a little girl Without a care in the world accept you laying there I hated watching you lying there
