R. Nicol
Hailing from San Diego, multi-talented musician Ross Nicol grew up on surfing and skating, moving to Nashville in 2012 to pursue music and photography. A classically-trained guitarist who began writing music at 14, Nicol has created a musical style that solidifies his place in the alternative spectrum. Inspired by the creative story-telling and musical arrangements of Radiohead and Vampire Weekend, while drawing influence from David Bowie and The Beatles, Nicol fuses the analog sounds of the past with a modern, alternative twist. Nicol went into the studio for the first time in 2015 and recorded an EP with producer Andrija Tokic (Alabama Shakes, Hooray for the Riff Raff), and went back to the studio 6 months later to finish the full length record with Billy Bennett (MGMT). Much of the music is inspired by photography - the album cover being one of his own - and all of the songs are somehow inspired by adventure or time on the road.
“Nicol creates a soothing soundtrack to get lost in” – Nu
