I WANT YOU
You’re uninvited to my party
But you’re living in my head
I am trying not to think about
All the stupid shit I said
As we were standing in the kitchen
At your brother’s barbecue
I make my way into the backyard
I am diving in the pool, causeCHORUS
I want you
I want, I want you
I want, I want you
I want you
I want, I want you
I want, I want you
I want you
I want, I want you
I want, I want you
I want you
I want, I want you
I want, I want youYes I think we’ve got potential
Yes I think I think too much
We’re surrounded by the lions
And I am a baby giraffe
You are turning up the TV
You are finishing your drink
I am tightening my bonnet
As I vomit in the sink, causeCHORUS
Slipping out of my mouth
I just want to be something to you
No it’s not a breakdown
Everybody’s got something to lose
Maybe we can find out
Sink into the bottom of your pool
I think that it’s a breakdown
Everybody’s waiting for you
Now walk it outI don’t want to be the voice of reason
Talk to me, talk to me now
In your head while you’re trying to sleep in -

INTRO
(Everybody wants you)
(Everybody wants you)VERSE 1
Flashbacks to your house and Catholic school
Standing like a soldier I told you you've nothing to prove
Isn't it like Kafka on the shore
Cause you don't understand anymore(Everybody wants you)
VERSE 1A
Backdown you're falling
I'm drinking alone
And it's so cinematic
Dramatically lone
You remind me of Paris in the rain
Cause I've never been
Don't you want to goCHORUS
I know it's gonna be alright
I know it's gonna be alright
Oh baby give me one more night
I know it's gonna be alrightVERSE 2
Born from the garden I put on a show
The dents in the drywall the holes in the door
(Everybody's going now)
And I got so much time on my hands
(What you want, what you want)
And cut credit cards
(What you need, what you need)
I can be your man(What you want, what you want)
(What you need, what you need)VERSE 3
So solipsistic
I float in the pool
(Where you going now)
The future in plastics
I'll graduate soon
I can hold my breath on the couch
but I want to breath in
While your breathing outCHORUS
I know it's gonna be alright
I know it's gonna be alright
Oh baby won't you hold on tight
I know it's gonna be alright
I know it's gonna be alright
I know it's gonna be alright
Oh baby give me on more night
I know it's gonna be alright(What you want, what you want)

Best Friend
Amy in the basement
Wondering what the words meant
Well you told me not to leave yet
No one has to be the bad guy nowHeart is beating in the bathroom
I never would expect you
Come on tell me why you look so blue
You're just blowing off some steam nowAnd I didn't mean anything by it
Hiding under the pool
Everyone needs a little secretYou're my best friend
I hope you know that
I never want to let you down
You best believe itStanding in the starlight
Stella couldn't hold a candle to
These girls are only teasing
You don't have to fall apart to mean it
And when I say it's not a problem
(It's not a problem, baby)Give me a taste of the moment
Coming home after school
No I don't want to be your little secretYou're my best friend
(You're my best friend)
I hope you know that
(I hope you know that)
I never want to let you down
You best believe it
(I hope you know that)You're my best friend
(You're my best friend)
I hope you know that
(I hope you know that)
I never want to let you down
You best believe it
(I hope you know that)My best friend
I hope you know that
You're my best friend
I hope you know that yea
You're my best friend

Standing by the wall
What a picture of elegance
Writing on the stall
Phone number such a gentleman
Who you gonna call baby
I've been waiting for youWe don't have to talk
We can sit still, reticence
Corner of my eye
What a wonderful cardigan
Slipping out my mouth baby
I've been waiting for youNo I don't want to dance
But baby after you leaveI'm showing up on your phone
Be the last one you seeI get so nervous when I think of you
Alone in your bedroom
With the radio on or the radio off
I get so nervous when I think of you
Nothing that I can do
Turn the radio on turn the radio offYou're everything I want
In a pixelated sonogram
Taking off your top
It's a product of the way you've been
Listen to your mom baby
I've been waiting for youBut now I'm falling in love
As you're falling asleep
Don't it feel like a drug
Is it just what you needI get so nervous when I think of you
Alone in your bedroom
With the radio on or the radio off
I get so nervous when I think of you
Nothing that I can do
Turn the radio on turn the radio offOh I don't want to stay too long
I don't want to say something wrong
I'm gonna mess this upCome here come here come here
I get so nervous when I think of you
Alone in your bedroom
With the radio on or the radio off
I get so nervous when I think of you
Nothing that I can do

Rocket Guy
I spent the summer like an atom bomb
Cutting wires from the inside out
And when I put myself together again
I’m going to move out of my parents houseEvery summer it’s the same
And I know that I’m to blameI’m going to build myself a rocket ship
Out of shoelaces and Elmer’s glue
And in the middle of a thunder storm
I’m going to roll it down the avenue
If you miss me while I’m taking off
I’m going to call you while I’m on the moonIf you never hear my name
If you never see my face
Tell me everything’s OK
Well I hope you’re doing fine

Just a symptom you’ve forgotten

You’re painting on my features
I’m everything you needed
Don’t put me on the shelf, no
I’ll never find anotherDon’t ask me what my name means
I don’t believe in that
Conversations one sided
Pull my strings and watch me come apart for you
I don’t believe in that

I’m wishing on a star too

Walking right beside you
Cut off the strings and put me down

Oh I never listen
To the crickets on my shoulderDon’t ask me what my name means

Space is Lonely, That’s OK!
This isn’t like you, San Francisco
All of life’s a silent disco
That’s what they told you back in flight school
Before you learned to flyAnd later on in your compartment
You draw the shades and sit in darkness
Reading screens on aeronautics
Measure space and timeDon’t know where you’re going to land
In California or JapanWith your helmet on
And pens in your pocket
Think of the girl that you loved in college
She kept your shirt and you built a rocket
It wouldn’t fit you nowThe Falls been cold but space is freezing
Houston tells me how you’re feeling
These knobs and buttons have no meaning
They flicker on and offI won’t ever understand
If you’re a comet or a manIf the station close and the stars don’t glimmer
If you might want to come home for the Winter
The Teflon suits and polyester
Hang them by the door -

You’re still shaking
I’m barely moving at all
Green lines cut through
A black screen tells you I’m fineYou’re Gwyneth Paltrow
I’m Richie Tenenbaum
I cut my hair off
You like me either way
And every summer
It’s going to be the sameGoing back to Telluride
Riding round with nothing on
Staying at your parents’ house
Acting like there’s nothing wrong
Going back to Telluride
Sleeping with the TV on
Darling so coledified
Oh, I know it won’t be longPull my sutures
And climb in I’m warm inside
You’ll breath my lungs
I’m florescent and infrared
And I’m yoursSmoke out the window
Listen to CD Roms
You’re like a race car
You are a palindrome
And every summer
Will never be the sameGoing back to Telluride

Now Jane
Standing over in her nightgown
She’s got the phone cord twisted ring finger
She’s a sight to see
See jane
Why you staring out the window
With the red eyes tell me his name
That got you tangled upNow Jane
She’s a lover like a pipe bomb
She’s got the pink sunglasses high heels
Gonna walk it out
Now Jane
Whatchya doing in the backseat
I always thought you were a front seat
Cadillac burning up the town with usShe said you feeling all right
Cause you look like hell
I think I’m doing just fine
As far as i can tellWell its just so easy
When everybody talks so carefully
But you’re my melatonin daydream
Pretend you don’t but you know
You know you know
That they all want you
Theres nothing else you really can do
And if you could you wouldn’t want to
Oh i knowNow Jane
Where the hell did all your friends go
They got a job in the city and a kid
Used to be so close
Jane
You remember what you told me
When we were standing in the bathroom,
Midnight baby we were so messed upYou said well you can be mine
I wouldn’t mind being yours
I wouldn’t take up your time
And i could sleep on the floorWell its just so easy
When everybody talks so carefully
But your my melatonin daydream
Pretend you don’t but you know
You know you know
That they all want you
Theres nothing else you really can do

You’re always talking about leaving
Milk carton black and white face
Smile vacant for the picture
Parents waiting in the drivewayOh my darling Arizona
Why you packing up your suitcase
Hasn’t anybody told ya
OhMy mouth on fire
Drowning in yourHoly water I could be better
It’s time to move on I won’t be yours forever
Holy water I could be better
It’s time to move on I won’t be yours foreverNow I’m waiting in your basement
Blood stains on your pink dress
Don’t you leave me on the pavement
You look so good in redDon’t you cry Arizona
I never want to see you that way
I’ll be your milk carton darling
Leave me cut cut up
Cut cut up

You leaned in closer
I should have kissed you then
Your hair was longer
I pulled away from it
And moved to the city
Over the Tappan Zee Bridge
You like the colors
I can’t see anythingI’ll be your coffee
I’ll be your poster child
Walking like Jesus
When all the stores are closed
You think of drowning
Out in your parents pool
The water’s freezing
It was SeptemberI think I know you
I was here before the start of the storm
It’s all around you now you’re coming back home
Now you’re coming backYou own that glimmer
I should have told you then
Now more than ever
The broken pieces fit
Scars and confetti
Sawmill and pontiac clips
You kept Valhalla
I still want everythingI’ll be your sweater
You be my wailing wall
Fighting like Ghandi
When all the lines are down
You dream of flying
Over the Zuiderzee
The sky was yellow
I still rememberI think I know you
I was here before the start of the storm
It’s all around you now you’re coming back home

Don’t talk about me that way I can’t stand it
Dress me up and push me down the aisle
Raise your glass and won’t you stay a while
You can take my eyes if you need to
They’re always looking for you
Another branch, offered for the pyreDon’t put me in the back seat I’ll stay quiet
Sing to me the FM radio
And smile as you look out the window
Won’t you tell me I look pretty?
Like the first day that you met me
And kiss me one more time before I goAnd you tell me that it’s raining
I can’t feel it anymoreDon’t paint the fence, I like the way it’s fading
Covered mirrors, blacked out in the hall
Won’t you leave the windows open for the fall
Would you be there when I come to?
And read the letters for you?
And miss the way you held me in your armsI’ll be there when you come to

She told me through here teeth and her perfume
I never want to see you againBut in the morning she’s pulling off her clothes in the bathroom
I’m standing in the hall I’ll be gone soon
Who did I think I was?And it’s breaking up again
Telephone lines
Wrapped around my neck
I don’t want to think about
Anything you saidAnd now you’re living on the south side
Staring at the cars as they pass by
Drinking up the smoke if you’re too high
You’re never gonna come back downAnd you said that it was Jesus
Who broke into your room in an earthquake
And shook you from your bed, all the glass frames
Shattered on the carpet floorAnd it’s breaking up again

Lyrics
I’ve got a job in the city
I’ve got a house with a guest room I don’t know who’s there
Got a person that loves me
She hates the way that I talk, I smoke, I stareI’m a king in a castle
I’m the ghost in the corner, holes cut out in the sheet
I’m about to be thirty
I’m dead and I’m gone, that’s alright with meJust give me something to live for
(Oh)
Give me something to do when I turn out the light
So hard being honest
(Oh)
But I’ll try
Everything’s fine right now, everything’s fineI am storming the castle
I am turning my head hundred eighty degrees
My whole body is hurting
I am burning my last will and testimonyCalling friends from high school
Telling people I love them they don’t know my name
Writing songs for my parents
They’ve always been there for me hope that I do the same(Ah)
Just give me something to live for
(Oh)
Give me something to do when I turn out the light
So hard being honest
(Oh)
But I’ll try
Everything’s fine right now, everything’sI got something to live for
(Oh)
I got someone to talk to at the end of the night
Just trying to be honest
(Oh)
Figure out all the things that make me feel alright
I’m gonna go to a party
(Oh)
Take drugs from strangers
(Oh)
Black out in the kitchen
(Oh)
Wake up in the guest room -

Wake up, Virginia, is your daddy home?
Is your daddy home? Is your Daddy home?
Did he turn out the lights and the telephone?
And the telephone, and the telephone
Come out Virginia come down the stairs
Hell I know your headed somewhereCome out, Virginia, what you waiting for?
What you waiting for? What you waiting for?
Got your ball gown on and you locked the door
And you locked the door and you locked the door
Come out, Virginia, can’t be so bad
But who am I to say you’re wrong? And in the backseat all your clothes
Are resting on the posters that you got
When you turned sixteenAnd from the window of the kitchen
Stand your parents and some people you’ve never seen
You’re asking for another one
You’re asking for a way to spend the night
If you’re asking for another oneCome out, Virginia, if it seems so wrong
Seems so wrong and it seems so wrong
And I’m just waiting for the rest to fall
For the rest to fall, for the rest to fall
Well maybe you were the best of me
And maybe I’ll learn, maybe I’ll learn to crawl
Well maybe you were the best of meIf you’re asking for another one
You’re asking for a way to spend the night
If you’re asking for another one

Kindly they’ll take me
I’ll be your story

Looking at headlights
From inside your window
It’s cold in your roomAnd I’m in your window
Loosing my shadow
And now I’m twenty three
There’s three at your table
Speak to her softly
As if I’m beside her
Just like my father
I’ll be alrightUndone and I can’t forget about it
Undone and I can’t forget about it
Undone and I can’t forget about it

Lyrics
If you’re heading for the coast
Hearing voices up ahead you
Who am I to let you go?
You’re a wrecking ball
Can you kiss me slowly? We can turn the headlights off
All our friends and all their voices
Falling silent in the car
And do you remember?
The fog was liftingTigers on trains watching you go
Head in the glass fogging up the windows
And you’re never gonna come back
Not much for you here
You’re never gonna come back
It’s alright, it’s alright, it’s alright
It’s alright, it’s alright, it’s alrightNow you’re heading for the show
All your memories through a broken telecaster
Would you be here in the fall?
And a long december, pull me closerSay this town is for the ghosts
And I’m buried in the rocks, dear
If you’re leaving let me know
Is it in the paper? Is it in your bloodstream?Tigers on trains watching you go
Head in the glass fogging up the windows
And you’re never gonna come back
You don’t really care
You’re never gonna come back
It’s alright, it’s alright, it’s alright
It’s alright, it’s alright, it’s alrightOh oh oh it’s alright
Oh oh oh it’s alright
Oh oh oh it’s alright
Oh oh oh it’s alright -

Lyrics
Barely been out lately
Tonight I’m glad I tried
Only had a few drinks
When someone caught my eyeYou look like California
Silver screen and marquis lights
And I want to be your James Dean
Tell me what you need tonight‘Cause
I know you
From somewhere
Can’t place it
Can you take me thereYou’re such a movie star
And I’m hanging on your shoulder
Red Carpet caviar
I’ll love you in slow motion
I’m such a loaded gun
Baby you’re my trigger
Don’t keep me on the run
WoahSee the way you’re moving
Love the way you shine in the night
Creeping ‘round the corner
Got to keep it under cover tonight
Tonight
Oh‘Cause I know you
Can’t stay here
But you’ve got me
Just take me thereYou’re such a movie star
And I’m hanging on your shoulder
Red Carpet caviar
I’ll love you in slow motion
I’m such a loaded gun
Baby you’re my trigger
Don’t keep me on the run

Why don’t you walk with me?
Talk to me

Outline
Everything to make it clearI’ve waited all night
Grasping at a lifeline
You can take your sweet time
I’ve been waiting years
DearBut now that I know
It’s been a mess love
I’ve done had enough of it
Now that I knowCause
Now that I know I don’t need you
Don’t know why it took so long to let you go
Now that I know I don’t need you
It’s making me wonder why I did before
DearNow that I know I don’t need you
I don’t know why it took
So long to let you go
I don’t know why IConvinced myself the whole truth
Was everyone else was wrong about you,
No, dear
But now that I knowYes
Now that I knowThere’s still some part darlin
That wants to go back
It’s sprialed too far from meOur words had greater meaning
Back then, when I believed ‘em
But meaning makes a fool believe until
He finally don’tIt’s been a mess love
I’ve done had enough of it
now that I don’t
Now that I know I don’t need you
I don’t know why it took so long to let you go
Now that I know I don’t need you
