Liz Rogers interview
Feb 3, 2014
Last month, I was interviewed for The Law Firm of Daniel Novick's monthly newsletter! Not only is it exciting for Anacrusis, but it's also a good review of some basic information you should know about the licensing world.
"This month, Daniel Novick sat down with Liz Rogers - founder and owner of Nashville-based Anacrusis - to discuss some of the basics of music placements & licensing, and what it takes to make it in such a competitive marketplace."
[brief excerpt]
DN: You work mainly with Nashville-based artists. How do you find your artists? And what do you look for in a song?
LR: I find most of the artists I work with through other artists [I work with]. Many of my friends are in the non-country music scene, and simply being out and about, at shows and parties, you meet more up-and-coming artists. I am also a huge supporter of Brite Revolution, a company focused on finding new emerging talent, and I look to them frequently for artist inspiration. Now, what do I look for…? Great songs. I learned that from songplugging. There isn’t a magic recipe, but I find myself using the word “viby” a lot. Plus, I look for drive and spirit from the artists when I meet them. I want to feel a positive energy coming from behind the song.
