I Found You
I'm growing into my skin
watch it fuse to my bones and settle in
i found a face i long to see
since the day it up and went away from me
back when all i had were these six strings and six years on my ownnow I've got you
now I've got you
now I've got you
and those days are gonei found myself in dark places
in alley ways and valleys low
i made a home in the shadows
didn't leave much room for the light to growback when all i had were these six strings and six years on my own
now I've got you
now I've got you
now I've got you
and those days are gonei went searching for my heartbeat
breathing in a cold sting
staring at the bottom
i was searching for a hand
looking for a foot hold
I was waiting for the day break
trying to find my way back homethen i saw you
then i saw you
then i found you
then i found you
then i found you
then i found you
now those days are gone -

Without Letting Go
Don't you wanna run away with me
Don't you wanna sail the open sea
Don't you wanna take a chance on thisDon't you wanna
Don't you wannaDon't you wanna dance in the moonlight
Don't you wanna finally get it right
Don't you wanna settle down for once
Don't you wanna don't you wannaI've been waiting for a love to take me away
from what I've known
I've been searching for the one thing i could hold
without letting gocould you be the one I could hold
(without letting go)
could you be the one I could hold
(without letting go)Don't you wanna blow off the crowds
Don't you wanna just hunker down
Don't you wanna stay in tonightDon't you wanna
Don't you wannaDon't you wanna find something more
Don't you wanna finally be sure
Don't you wanna have that with me
Don't you wanna don't you wannaI've been waiting for a love to take me away

Missing Out
I wonder what words are exchanged
while I'm sitting here counting away
the tick of the clock on the wall
that holds nothing at all anymoreand I wonder who's laughing out loud
at a joke I once lived to tell
I'd break the ice in a crowd
they would sit and delight in my wordsI'm in confinement
stuck here in silencewhat i wouldn't give to be a fly on the wall
in a room with smoke and mirrors ten feet tall
id spy on my thoughtful design
while I live in this empty house
watching the life I built
but I'm missing outI was stripped of my clothes and my face
living like a blank canvas these days
struck by a bandit I took in
who said that she needed a homeboy was I blinded
now I am findingwhat i wouldn't give to be a fly on the wall
in a room with smoke and mirrors ten feet tall
id spy on my thoughtful design
while i live in this empty house
watching the life I built
But I'm missing outmy foundation is cracked but
piece by piece i am building it backwhat i wouldn't give to be a fly on the wall
in a room with smoke and mirrors ten feet tallwhat i wouldn't give to be a fly on the wall
in a room with smoke and mirrors ten feet tall
id spy on my thoughtful design
while I live in this empty house
watching the life I built
But I'm missing out -

Bad Taste
I don't like my name on your tongue
like I've always done something wrong
I don't care for your raised brow
like I'm villainous to you, somehowyou leave a bad taste
you leave a bad taste
you leave a bad tasteI don't like the way you retreat
never own up to anything
I don't like your hand on your face
like its all too much for you to takeyou leave a bad taste
you leave a bad taste
you leave a bad tastemy mouth is burning
I can't stomach you
my ears are readying
for all your whispered words
my heart is racing
from your pointed finger
my spirits breaking
what can i do
help prisoner for believing in truthlet me alone now, I'm on the edge like I've never been
just give me home now, oh what i wouldn't give
let me alone now, I'm on the edge like I've never been
just give me home now, oh what i wouldn't give
let me alone now, I'm on the edge like I've never been

Lyrics
Well she's not much for talking these days
Can cut through me with her blue-eyed gaze
I tried to save her time and time again
She hides behind an armor of inch-thick skinSo I said
Put on your black dress honey
Dance around in the cobblestone streets
Try not to feel it honey
The weight of the world can wait you'll see
You can be anything
If you put on that black dressShe's up and five and on her way in
Doesn't like the daily grind but she does it again
Always dreamt of Pensacola and its warm air
Staring at the city lights wihtout a careI still said
Put on your black dress honey
Dance around in the cobblestone streets
Try not to feel it honey
The weight of the world can wait you'll see
You can be anything
If you put on that black dressOne day I think I got through
She put in her two weeks, cut ties with the boots
Bought a one-way ticket straight outta this town
She wrote me a letter sayin things got betterIt said
I found my black dress honey
I danced around in the cobblestone streets
Now I don't feel it honey
The weight of the world doesn't wait for me
I can be anything
Now that I've got my black dress -

such a shrill shrill voice
you have put on
and you lost your face
where has it gonei don't even know your name
i don't even know your namesuch an empty room
i've found myself in
searching for my pulse
in this weathered skini don't even know your name
i don't even know your nameturn your back on familiar streets
put your stances on parade
but i don't recognize a single word you sayyou can keep your laughs
i'll keep peace of mind
take the ones i love
as your alliesturn your back on familiar streets
put your stances on parade
but i don't recognize a single word you sayi don't even know your name
i don't even know your name
but i used to know your name
i used to know your name
I used to know your name -

Lyrics
you keep everyone at arms length
your thoughts are locked up in a box at the bank
like a Rubix cube with no solution
or the planets without revolutionthe road is empty and the night is endless
your seatbelt hold you when you're shaking and your breathless
each mile you pass marks a memory
escaping who you used to be
escaping who you used to bewhere do you leave your heart
in a different city every night
where do you leave your thoughts
they're in a different state of mind
things have never and will never be the same
ince Alabama changed you, woah
since Alabama changed you, woahand you know you're like flipping a coin
you're a gamble to those who play
and while you're way up in the air
oh, the ground, the ground patiently awaits
oh, the ground, the ground patiently awaitswhere do you leave your heart
in a different city every night
where do you leave your thoughts
they're in a different state of mind
things have never and will never be the same
since Alabama changed you, woah
since Alabama changed you, woahand its not that you mean to live behind steel walls
or to let nobody in
its just the way in which the sea has taught
you not to sink but to swimwhy do you leave your heart
in a different city every night
why do you leave your thoughts
in a different state of mind
things have never and will never be the same
since alabama changed you, woah -

Lyrics
you get under my skin like a splinter
you know your fingertips could ruin me
you make me shiver like the dead of winter
you push me up from the bottom of the sea
and now I'm shriveled up inside my skin
what once was new is now worn in
im traveling down this road alone
my only friend's a skipping stone
my only friends a skipping stone
take this burden from my mind
replace it with a jar of wine
wrap it up in sheets of white
and toss it far into the night
into the night
virginia's never been so cold
the air is biting at my tongue
the birds have put away their song
the mountains never seemed so small
the mountains never seemed so small
take this burden from my mind
replace it with a jar of wine
wrap it up in sheets of white
and toss it far into the night
into the night
i'm swinging, swinging through the days
there are pictures passing by my gaze
i'm breathing, breathing audibly
but i don't hear a sound coming from me
i don't hear a sound coming from me
take this burden from my mind
replace it with a jar of wine
wrap it up in sheets of white
and toss it far into the night
into the night
oh, oh, oh

Lyrics
she sits alone, drinking her coffee
wonders when or if he'll notice her
she flips the pages of an Agatha Christie
a little mystery for a small town girl
he covers his skin in quotes from shakespeare
and is well versed in the words she loves
he plays the mando and writes lots of songs
about things she only ever dreams of
and all she sees
is they all go marching two by two
with their cigarettes and their converse shoes
a spinning record sets the scene
black and white
on silver screens
she looks so casual while she jots in her notebook
between each line, she scans the scene
he can feel her staring over his shoulder
he turns around and their eyes me
and all he sees
is they all go marching two by two
with their cigarettes and their converse shoes
a spinning record sets the scene
black and white
on silver screens
and all she ever wanted was
just someone else who didn't quite fit in
so she wouldn't have to travel down this road alone
just another hand she could call her own
and they all go marching two by two
with their cigarettes and their converse shoes
a spinning record sets the scene
black and white
on silver screens

Lyrics
we go together
like oil and vinegar
shake it up and then let it be
that's you and mewe watch the sunrise
through two different sets of eyes
but i can't help but think
we see the same thingscross my heart and hope to die
I won't leave this place without you by my sidethe man in the moon
has nothing on you
even though he's way up high because
here on the group
I've already found
the man who's gravity keeps me safe from the tidesyou scratch my back
and I'll scratch yours
and if your hands get cold
I'll make them warmyou turn off the light
and crawl into bed
the nook in your shoulder
was made for my headclose your eyes count one two three
take a breath and bend your kneesthe man in the moon
has nothing on you
even though he's way up high because
here on the group
I've already found
the man who's gravity keeps me safe from the tidesoh, oh, oh
oh, oh, the man in the moon -

Lyrics
How do I begin
with just this paper and this pen
throw some words on a page
that'll never be enoughI'd been playing charades
I'd been acting out for six months now
but I never said a thing
holding pride to my chest
I should've been surrenderingI'd grown used to living in old chapels
spending time down on calloused knees
I guess I never saw you coming
you knocked me out
like a rookie in the ringi'm through leaving lipstick stains
on every coffee cup i meet
no longer longing for a stranger
to ask about my storynow i put my tears to bed
and i rest my tired eyes
i always hoped the rain would end
and that the sun would risebut i'd grown used to living in old chapels
spending time down on calloused knees
i guess i never saw you coming
you knocked me out
took me down
to the ground
like a rookie in the ring -
