Anacrusis runs anacrusissongs.com, a music publishing and licensing catalog based in Nashville, Tennessee. This page says what we collect when you use the site, why we collect it, and who else sees it.

What we collect

Account details. When you register, or when we open an account for you: your name, email address, company, title and phone number, and for music supervisors the kind of productions you work on. You can change these on your account page.

Activity on the site. The searches you run, the songs you play and download, the projects and pitch links you create, and when a pitch link is opened. We keep this to show you your own history, to tell our staff which songs are getting attention, and to account for downloads of licensed material. Search history is kept for about three months; play, download and pitch-view records for about a year.

Technical data. Your IP address, browser and the pages you request, in server logs and in the records above.

Email. When you send a pitch email from the site we keep the recipients, subject and message with your project. If you write to us, we keep the correspondence.

How we use it

To run the catalog and your account; to deliver and track the pitches you send; to review music-supervisor applications; to pay royalties; to answer you; and to keep the site secure. If you ticked the box for occasional emails, we may send news about the catalog, and every such message says how to stop them.

Cookies

The site sets a cookie to keep you logged in and, for staff, a cookie that remembers a browser they have confirmed with a code. There is no advertising or cross-site tracking. Blocking cookies stops you logging in.

Who else sees it

We use a few outside services to run the site, each only for the purpose named:

  • Cloudflare sits in front of the site for security and speed, and stores our images.
  • Amazon Web Services stores the audio files.
  • Google reCAPTCHA on the registration forms keeps bots out. Google's privacy policy applies to that check.
  • An error-reporting service receives technical details when something breaks, with passwords and personal fields removed.
  • A language-model provider receives the words of a search when you use the AI-assisted search, so that it can interpret them. It does not receive your identity.
  • An email relay delivers the mail the site sends.

We do not sell personal information. We share it beyond these services only when the law requires it, or to protect the catalog and its writers.

A pitch link shows the songs in a project to anyone who has the link. Views of the link are recorded for the person who sent it. Please do not pass pitch links beyond the production they were sent for.

Keeping and closing an account

Accounts stay open until you ask us to close them. Write to us through the contact page and we will close your account and remove the personal details we do not need to keep for royalty and licensing records.
